Shogun Audio Announce Full Details of My Nu Leng EP & Premiere ‘Jigsaw’ w/ Friction
Last week My Nu Leng hit us with this bombshell…
Already renowned and celebrated as sonic craftsmen specialising in their own brand of bass-heavy garage and grime, the prospect of the duo releasing on Shogun Audio has sent waves across the scene, and for good reason too.
Their debut D&B EP sees them returning to their roots, and it’s just as impressive and forward-thinking as you’d expect, once again proving their versatility and range as artists. Shogun have just revealed full details of the EP, including the first single which features head honcho Friction. Get this in your ears…
Having recently linked with Friction under his FineArt alias to launch their own Maraki Records imprint, the Bristol-based duo have proven they’re feeling inspired as ever, and ready to explore various new sounds.
4-tracks deep, the Portal EP also features a half-time monster with SpectraSoul, as well as vocals from Iyamah. In their own words:
“We’re both so excited to be releasing an EP on Shogun! We’ve been huge fans for many years and have bought and collected most of their back-catalogue on vinyl. We actually both come from a big drum and bass background and became friends through mixing and looking through each other’s D&B vinyl collections.
We first worked with Friction by remixing his track ‘Long Gone Memory’ and more recently have been working with Ed under his new alias FineArt – we showed him some drum and bass we’d been making and he mentioned the idea of an EP on Shogun. It’s been over a year since that conversation started and we are really happy to now get it out there and an honour for us to bring it on Shogun whilst working with SpectraSoul and Friction on music too. Iyamah on vocals for senses really blew us away and we hope people enjoy the music as much as we did making it!”
Due for release on September 1, the EP marks a new chapter for My Nu Leng; one we’re incredibly excited to see in full bloom.
