Joining the likes of J Majik & Wickaman, Jubei. Kwaii, Foreign Concept, Hamilton, Icicle and LOADS more, is Shimon, the perfect example of a man who’s enjoyed a focused and fruitful life from music.

We checked in with him to find out what his Ram Classics set with Moving Fusion is likely to hold for us… And discover a few upcoming nuggets on Audioporn too.

First up, let’s talk about your special set with Moving Fusion. Ram classics! Lots to pick from… Any definite tunes we can bank on hearing you play?

I’m definitely going to be reaching for the classics from 1998-2006. Expect to hear Hush Hush, Chase Scene, Titan, Shadow Knows, Quest and Nightflight.

What’s your all time favourite Ram tune anyway?

It’s a tricky one, but I’m going to pick Hush Hush. It’s the one I play the most often in my sets. Tune mixes with anything!

And your ultimate Ram memory?

It’s a bit difficult (blurry) to pick just one night, but I always get flash backs to the early days of Ram Nights at The End Club in London. There were some absolutely huge nights had at that club and it will always have a special place in my heart.

Are you going to be able to squeeze in some Audioporn goodies along the way?

Absolutely! Can’t wait to play some new Audioporn business… There will definitely be some exclusives in there so keep a listen out.

How are things going at Audioporn right now?

Awesome thanks! We have had such an amazing 12 months with Xilent, Mediks, High Maintenance, Hybrid Minds, Tha New Team the list goes on. I’m really happy to be working with such a talented bunch and it’s a really exciting time for all of us at the label. Huge love to my Audioporn crew.

Xilent’s Beyond has already been given props by Zane Lowe! How does that feel when your label’s output gets such a big up before it’s even released?

It’s hugely rewarding to get those kinds of props. Zane Lowe has always been partial to Xilent’s dubstep tunes and made Choose Me II his ‘Next Hype Track’ when it first came out, so it was really cool that he supported Xilent’s drum & bass Ultrafunk EP too. It’s always nice to get that kind of endorsement before a release.

What other big ups has Audioporn received that you’ve been pleased with?

The night Dirtyphonics won Best Newcomer Producers at the Drum&BassArena Awards was pretty epic, when we found out Youthstar and Xilent were nominated for 2011, as well as receiving some of the remix opportunities Xilent’s recently been asked to do for Sub Focus, Katy Perry and Hadouken. It was pretty cool when Fearne Cotton played Xilent’s new D&B tune Do It the other day was pretty awesome too.

So what’s coming up for Audioporn?

We have Dilemn’s ‘Talk About Us EP’ next, followed by a High Maintenance release and we’re launching our very first Audioporn compilation a little later this year which is shaping up to be a massive project and everyone is really hyped about it. Watch this space!

What’s the best thing about being Shimon?

Like a few others I know, I’m an Essex boy and I sometimes shudder to think what life would have been like if I hadn’t started raving and then got into the music scene. The best thing about being me is that I’m lucky. Lucky to have had the opportunities through the Ram years and now the Audioporn years.

And the worst?

The waiting around in airports and hotel rooms is starting to get a little old now.

Give the 24-hour sleepless crew a message!

Shout out to viewers of the 200th D&BTV show! Keep it locked… And don’t forget to help out Rhythmix and their awesome cause.
