Drum&BassArena VS Get Darker: Win Tickets!

With BPM boundaries blurred more than ever before, Drum&BassArena have teamed up with major league dubstep crew Get Darker for a party that’s set to suit every single taste in bass.

June 1, Cable London: home to a stupendous session of sub-low and fluctuating tempo. DJs on the line-up are the very best in both games. No messing around now: 16Bit, Wilkinson, Calyx & Teebee, Distance, Logistics, Silkie, Nu:Tone, Kromestar B2B Dark Tantrums, Kasra, DJG, Foreign Concept, Von D B2B Darkside, Serum and AMC will all be repping. From funk-fueled rolling D&B to growling, gnarly half-step: ALL bass flavours will be showcased, uniting fans of every distinction. Find out the full details here.

To celebrate such eclectic fusion we’ve checked in with two members of the line-up – one D&B, one dubstep – to get their favourite tune from the other genre. Enjoy… then read on to find out how you can win tickets to the event!

Favourite dubstep tune: Mala – Hunter

“Putting the DUB into dubstep…This is the kind of stuff I can really get into – a deep dubby bassline, and some tasty 909 drumwork.”

Favourite D&B tune: Photek – Rings Around Saturn

“As a an old school junglist this is almost impossible! But the first track that comes to mind for me is Rings Around Saturn by Photek. I first heard it when I was a teenager. It had such a profound impact on me. It’s just a perfect piece of music – the atmosphere, the way the bassline interacts with the beautiful chords, the high hats sizzling along over the top of the amazing drum programming. I don’t know, it’s just such a unique song too, there’s nothing else like it outside other work by Photek, at the same time it’s a quintessential drum&bass track, it represents the genre so well. One of my favorite songs ever, really.”

Oh yes, we’ve got five pairs of tickets to give away! We’re predicting a roadblock so here’s a way to maximise your chance of entry. All you have to do is answer this simple question – Which compilation brand do Get Darker curate and create?

–          This Is Dubstep?

–          This Is Folk Music?

–          This is Heavy Metal?

Tough one, right? Get your answer, along with you name and number over to comps@breakbeat.co.uk by midday Monday May 28 and we’ll be in touch with five lucky winners. Good luck!
