After a late night out with mutual friends, Phil Miller and Alex Burkett crossed each others paths. A lengthy conversation later they realised they both had a burning passion for drum and bass.
Phil coming from a classically and technology trained musical background and Alex coming from the DJing and nightlife scene, they both felt they had something different to bring to the table.
After a few meetings and many hours in the studio, Alex then decided to set out and train himself, so gave up his job to go back to college and study the art of music production. While constantly working on new ideas the pair began to teach each other new tricks and bounce ideas off one another.
The duo then set out sculpting a fresh new sound; this led to various releases and gained them support and recognition from many people in the local scene. Although ever pleased with their work, something still wasn’t quite right. Throughout the next year their tastes changed and so did their production – fine tuning their darker, techy sound they then realised they had hit the nail on the head.
A few tracks later and some excellent feedback from old friends, Mind Vortex, they decided to start a whole new project and so Kritix was born.
Mayan Audio overheard this new sound, instantly showed interest and got in contact which led to a succession of forthcoming singles. Kritix also have a strong presence behind the decks, causing carnage to dance floors all over, and have also been made residents at London club night Regression Sessions.
With interest and support from across the board, and some huge names in the DNB scene already dropping their tracks at clubs and events all over, Kritix are sure to make a huge impact on the scene as we know it.
