Artist
Prodigious new talent and recent Med School signing, Joe Syntax is a London based Electronic music DJ and producer. Originally from Norwich and now residing in South London, Joe has carved out a niche for himself, focusing on D+B and electronica with a distinctive sound and discernible dancefloor edge. He started producing in 2007 and has since gone on to release on a number of labels including Hospital, Med School, Spearhead, Phunkfiction and Allsorts. In this time, he has also garnered support across the board, from the likes of High Contrast. London Elektricity, Friction (Radio1) & Netsky to Mistajam, Mary Anne Hobbs, Laurent Garnier & techno legend Carl Cox.
Joe’s artist name derives from the idea of his music as his own personal language with its own arrangement and unique structure, so it’s unsurprising that his music varies from experimental half-time compositions through to more dance-floor orientated club music. Joe cites electronica and techno as key influences including Amon Tobin’s ‘Permutation’ LP and Carl Cox ‘FACT’ Series.
Joe came to the attention of Med School with his track ‘Expectra’, which enjoyed iTunes Dance Album Top 10 success as part of the “New Blood 010″ compilation. He went on to sign exclusively to Med School and has not looked back since.
As a DJ, Joe’s sets have graced venues and events such as Brixton Academy, Global Gathering and Fabric. He now has a DJ schedule which is taking him around the world from Hong Kong and Bangkok to Dublin and Dresden.
2014 see’s Joe looking towards his debut album for Med School and his first tour of Australia and New Zealand in the pipelines.
