Our staff picks today are courtesy of Toby our digital operations manager who also happens to be DJ Snige and you may have spotted him on D&BTV Live a few times.
Check out his staff picks:
Konichi – “Mongrel” (G13 Records)
Konichi is without doubt my favourite jump-up D&B producer right now. “Mongrel” follows a string of heavy hitters that I’ve also been caning, such as “Helense”, “Money Fiend” and “Get Out of Here”. And “War” (Konichi & Decimal Bass), along with “Mongrel”, is quite simply one of my favourite tunes of the past couple of years.
Survival – “The Year 2133 VIP” (Dispatch Recordings)
Survival is the master of stripping Drum & Bass right back to just that, Drums & Bass. I’m a sucker for deep tunes that lay down a beat with almost nothing more to the bassline than a constant, rolling sub. Similar to what he did with “Ever Clear”, this one is a great example of that and it sounds siiiccckk!
Rich Raw – “Filthy Raver” (Wyatt Noise Recordings)
The name sums it up really. And in my opinion you don’t get enough of these ‘Nitrous-esque’ tunes these days. Prep that screw-face – this one’s a proper dark dance-floor destroyer. And what a first release for Wyatt Noise Recordings.
Enjoy!
