“If BP² London is anything near as good as BP² NYC, this is going to be killer. Can’t wait!” – Bailey
More proof that North America is developing its strongest drum & bass scene to date arrived yesterday with the announcement that one of New York City’s most respected drum & bass promoters BP² will be establishing a new London base. Creating the strongest jungle link between electronic music’s most important cities since Roni Size and Nuyorican Soul did a remix swap 20 years ago, the development will launch with transatlantic party on November 12 in both NYC and London.
For those not US-based, BP² comprises two leading east coast D&B crews Boom Platoon and Boss Party. Joining forces late 2012 BP² have spent the last three years taking over iconic NYC venues such as Webster Hall with thoroughbred D&B line-ups such as Andy C, Noisia, Wilkinson, Jumping Jack Frost, Drumsound & Bassline Smith, Goldie, Bryan Gee, Rene LaVice, Voltage and many more. Now with firm links established with the best UK and European crews, BP² are now looking to take their vibe as far around the world as possible. Here’s a taste of their recent World Of Drum & Bass show with DJ SS…
“We are really excited to announce that we have launched the UK edition of BP²,” states co-founder and US Director Will Luterzo. “For the first time, we have a voice in the UK and aim to bring our New York City vibes to London. We feel this New York/London link is an important step to grow the scene here and to show the UK what we have to offer as well. We have been after more recognition from the UK so we are really happy with this link up. We have some of the most dedicated fans who travel from all parts of the east coast of America for our shows, so to have support from the UK like this is key for us and the future of Drum and Bass in America.”
So far no line-up or venue details have been announced for either party on November 12 but we do know that the shows will be live streamed and linked on big screens so fans on both sides of the Atlantic will be able to share their vibe with each other, which is a novel twist. With so many crews and parties established in the UK, BP² will have to pull out all the stops to ensure this unique set-up really grabs fans like it has in the UK. Judging by the respect they’ve developed with the UK DJs they’ve worked with, this shouldn’t be problem…
“BP² are one of the best crews I have met whilst over in the States, the fact that they are branching out into the U.K excites me!! They know their music!!” – Voltage
“It’s great to have BP² here in London. The BP² crew are like my family so watch out for big things here in the UK” – Jumping Jack Frost
Promising a line-up that celebrates the best in US and UK talent and a series of podcasts in the build-up to the event, BP² mean business. For more details as they’re revealed keep their Facebook locked.
