Award season: it’s that time of year again!
The Oscars and the like will need to take a step back and wait their turn. Right now we’re talking about the National Drum & Bass Awards 2015.
On Saturday March 7th the big, bad, bassy drum and bass awards are back and come to the world famous Gatecrasher Birmingham, for the first ever drum & bass event in the venue! With one year away from their decade milestone, this year’s event will see Evil B, Bryan Gee and DJ Phantasy host the awards to a crowd of thousands including DJs, producers, MCs, promoters and of course the loyal drum & bass fans who make it all possible!
The awards celebrate every aspect of the game with over 25 categories including Best DJ, Best Label, Best Radio Show and Best Website (which we’ve won two years running) You can also expect new categories this year such as best alternative artist and best DJ/MC performance of 2014.
Voting is officially over, but never fear: Tickets are still available so you can go and experience one of the maddest nights on the drum and bass calendar! Get your tickets HERE.
As with their previous events, the awards are only a fraction of the experience: The night itself boasts a mind-blowing selection of the biggest and oldest names in the scene who will be playing across four arenas in Gatecrasher.
Organised by the mighty Raveology crew, the awards are one of the most prestigious in the scene, celebrating a genre that has a heritage 20 years deep and counting. No other genre can produce such an event and 2015 is certainly no exception.

A homage to the genre’s great names and founders, this year’s awards are dedicated to none other than D&B forefathers Fabio & Grooverider. For 25 years these two pioneering DJs have lead the way for the genre. The widely revered pair have been there since drum and bass’s earliest days. Grooverider was instrumental in playing the music of Goldie out in the early Rage days, a move that would prove to make history within drum and bass and when teamed with Fabio, the two would help bring drum & bass to the mainstream through their legendary Drum & Bass Show on Radio 1. Also on the night, the one and only Stevie Hyper D (RIP) will receive the lifetime achievement award; unarguably deserving of probably the most prestigious award in drum and bass – this is definitely something you wont want to miss. With the 2015 awards being dedicated to the worthy recipients of Fabio, Grooverider and Hyper D it demonstrates the genres respect for its history and heritage, all at a massive night where the real winners will be those in attendance.

Performing with the duo on the night is MC Magika, another veteran who is also celebrating 25 years in the game. To mark this anniversary, Raveology are hosting another night in Birmingham on the 8th May for Magika and Carl Cox – whose involvement in the dance scene is also reaching the 25 year milestone. Get down to a night that will pay respects to two of dance music’s long-standing servants, in the best way Raveology know how!
