Icicle, Hybrid Minds & Insideinfo, Abis, Neonlight and Outside Agency have all created exclusive productions for Let It Roll’s opening show this summer August 1 – 4.
A longstanding highlight of the Czech festival, Let It Roll’s opening show is a total A/V assault of the senses. A tonne of pyrotechnics, lasers, graphics and a sci-fi story of warring robots who’ve killed their home planet, it’s set on a huge spaceship stage amid giant cybernetic structures so large you don’t even come up to their kneecaps. For once the words epic and legendary aren’t too over the top and it seems to get bigger every year.
Especially this year; it’s the most diverse range of artists from across the entire drum & bass spectrum the festival has ever curated to soundtrack the space-rollicking Let It Roll tale. Each track has been made to enhance and amplify different stages of the story, including a rocket powered take-off, the robot’s first encounter with the stars and some seriously turbulent twists. The tracks, which won’t be premiered anywhere before the show takes place, will be released later this summer as an EP, are: Hybrid Minds & InsideInfo – The Gathering, Abis – Ignition, Icicle – To The Stars, The Outside Agency – Asteroid Belt and Neonlight – Wormhole.
For an idea of exactly what these tunes will soundtrack, remind yourself of last year’s remarkable opening show. The only time when the event’s 25,000+ crowd are truly united in one place, at one time, it’s 9pm on the Friday.
From the dreamy soul of Hybrid Minds to the brutalist designs of The Outside Agency, the variety and scope of the opening show soundtrack matches the breadth of the festival line-up itself.
Chase & Status, Pendulum, Andy C, Noisia, Camo & Krooked, High Contrast, Sub Focus, Wilkinson, Dimension, Black Sun Empire, Current Value, DJ Marky, Flava D, A.M.C, Lenzman, DJ Friction, Matrix & Futurebound, Breakage, Dirtyphonics, Turno, Kyrist, London Elektricity, Benny L, Macky Gee and The Prototypes are just some of the acts all lined-up to play at the Czech event between August 1 – 4. Elsewhere on the disused military site bus parties will be held by the likes of the Teddy Killerz & Gydra, Koven & Muzzy, Zombie Cats & Abis, Fourward & Friends, Killbox, The Prototypes, James Marvel & Ripple, Benny L & Shimon & Trimer, Rene Lavice & TC and Hybrid Minds.
And that’s just the tip of the DJ iceberg. Over 300 acts will perform over the three days, ensuring Let It Roll’s title as the world’s largest drum & bass festival for another year running. With just over a month to go, the countdown begins and the mothership is waiting. Tickets still remain at £90. Full details and line-up on the Let It Roll website.
