Last week Kyrist sparked a good ol’ fashioned who dunnit, unleashing a secret remix of her moody roller Ill Skill and challenging us to guess who was behind it…
The objective was simple – get people guessing who was responsible for the remix, and if enough people guessed correctly they’d give the tune away for free.
Guesses ranged from DLR to Break, to Emperor to Turno, but many were bang on the money, and now we can reveal the hench re-work came courtesy of none other than A.M.C! Cop the free download here…
In Kyrist’s own words:
“I thought A.M.C would be great for the secret remix as I’m a fan of his music anyway, and I was interested to see how he could interpret something that I’d written, into his style. I’m really happy with how it’s turned out and the response the track has had, maybe you’ll see more of us working together in the future too…”
Yes please!! The remix sees A.M.C in fine form, injecting a signature rugged twist to the original. He filled us in on how it came about and how he approached the remix…
“Theres always at least one Kyrist tune in my sets recently and when she sent me the VIP of Ill Skill she was working on the idea of a remix just came to me, so I asked her to send me the stems if she was up for it. It came together in a couple of days and I had it completed in a week or so. There really needs to be more women making D&B as there’s way too many blokes in the game. Hopefully this remix as well as the concept of the ‘secret remix’, along with Kyrist’s burgeoning career will inspire more women to get involved.”
Amen. Expect more from Kyrist in the coming months with her next EP on Dispatch set to drop in November. Entitled Antidote, the EP sees her drawing even deeper and exhibiting an ever-evolving sonic progression. Keep your eyes and ears peeled…
