A week today D&BTV will be preparing for their biggest show to date.
A 24 hour marathon featuring some of the biggest DJs in the game and some serious fund and awareness raising for a great charity that’s close to our hearts, Rhythmix.
To celebrate this landmark in D&BTV history we thought we’d check in with one or two of the line-up heavyweights and find out their perfect 24 hours. A free day where work commitments, deadlines, demands and responsibilities can be forgotten about, allowing them to enjoy their day and do whatever they want to do. First up, Kasra.
Kasra’s Day Off
“My perfect day? The boring response would be sitting on a beach doing nothing all day, just eating nice food. That’s the dream! But if I was going to have a perfect day around London it would definitely start with a lie-in because I don’t have them very often. Not ridiculously late, but a nice restful morning. Then brunch in one of London’s many amazing food places. I’m a big fan of a place called Lantana, which does amazing food. This is feeling a bit like a Timeout feature now!
“Then I’d go record shopping; still big into my vinyl, I still buy it pretty much every week. I’d go to Phonica then Selectadisc and Rough Trade East. Then I’d probably go to the cinema. That’s one of the only things you do on holiday. The cinema on a rainy Tuesday afternoon. You can’t do that in the normal working world! It’s nice and different; the film has got to be good obviously but I love the luxury of immersing yourself in the film with your phone off and nothing to distract you.
“Next up: more food. What can I say? I like eating! We’re so spoilt for food choices in the city. I’m not going to list my favourite restaurants, there are too many. So yeah, I’d go to eat with some friends, then go for some drinks and end up in a bar. I don’t want to be in a club; it’s my day off!
“London is a great place to spend 24 hours. Switch off and break away from the work side of the city; every day it’s like ‘right, I’ve got to go here, then I’ve got to go there, then I’ve got to do that and then the day is over’ – you kinda let the beauty of London wash over you. We spend too much time rushing around trying to do stuff, we forget a lot of people visit here as tourists. People dream of visiting London and you forget how much of an amazing place it is. We should take stock of our surroundings sometimes.”
Another perfect day, of course, can be spent enjoying the D&BTV 200th broadcast. From June 6-7, 7pm-7pm we’ll be rolling out live beats for 24 hours. Kasra will be back to back with Foreign Concept on Thursday afternoon… If there’s a better reason to stay awake for the long haul, it’s these two!
Stay tuned for more 200th show news, including how you can bid for exclusive D&B goodies like these…
