The World Destroyer ep? Seems like it was a moody time for me generally.
THREE things that will surely test any true D&B head for a pulse:
1/Prestige. 2/the World Destroyer ep. 3/Radius.
But combined???
Yes! We’ve managed to corner Prestige himself for a five minute chat… and he’s gone in on the mix for us too. Strap yourself in for THAT btw.
Quite nice for someone bent on actual world destruction.
Prestige, can you tell us what we can expect from this mix?
Hello! And thanks for catching me. The mix is a really quick showcase of what I’m feeling at the moment mainly. Plus few new tracks by me. Hope you enjoy it!
You’re from Russia… where exactly?
Yes, I’m from Russia, from Kaliningrad.
How’s D&B there?
The D&B scene here use to be much better four to five years ago than nowadays. Last time I played here was about two years ago.
You’ve a tune on World Destroyer called ‘Walking in the Mountains’… was inspired by the local area?
Not really, no mountains here at all unfortunately! So I’ve been walking in the mountains only in my dreams. And then I’ve made that track incidentally.
How did the linkup to Hazard’s Radius label come about?
Radius was one of my favourite labels when I was younger and now I’m happy that my EP’s come out on it. I’ve known Hazard online.
For someone that’s never encountered Presige, how would you describe your take on D&B?
I’d say it’s different, maybe even more sophisticated from what they’ve been listened to. I’m influenced by all kinds of music and tempos. Also I love to imagine how would it work on the big system for the crowd.
And what I’d like to hear if I was in that crowd.
We mentioned ‘Walking in the Mountains’, tell us about ‘Angel of Death’, ‘Dream Problem’ and the title track… such titles imply you have an active mind!
‘World Destoyer’ is all about epic intro for me, a track to begin the story. ‘Dream Problem’ is strange and unnaturally twisted. That voice fx which is laying on a snare – you probably haven’t heard it – got me to finish it.
And ‘Angel of Death’ is something dark and fresh at the same time. Seems like it was a moody time for me generally.
Konichi appears here on the collab front, could you tell us about the collabs on World Destroyer?
I’m sure you know these extremely talented producers very well. Plus Tyke – aka Retronym – is a good friend of mine. We’ve been working together for a good five years now. It’s like a different project.
Shouts to my man Tyke, Annix, Hype and Pascal and all the Playaz crew.
