The rules: Each week The Risky goes against a guest DJ to predict the forthcoming weekend’s Premiership scores…
They score…
1 point for a correct win or draw
2 points for the correct score
At the end of the season we’ll scan the scores in a bid to find the most accurate DJ in the scene (not including The Risky) and give them the very first MOTDJ trophy!
This week: Horizons Music
We’re not sure if trading standards are going to shoot us down for this or not, but this week’s candidate for Match Of The Deejay isn’t an actual DJ!
No siree… In a MOTDJ first, The Risky is going head to head against the CEO of the forward-thinking UK imprint Horizons Music, Neil Monteiro. Will his savvy business skills mean sharper predictions? Or do DJs make better forecasts? This one’s going to be interesting…
“Yeah well I’m always up for a challenge,” grins Neil. “As long as I finish in the top four I’ll be happy. I’m a Liverpool fan… That always seems to be our target at the start of the season!”
Another Liverpool fan? MOTDJ seems riddled with them!
“I’ve noticed you’ve had a few fellow Liverpool supporters so I won’t go into too much detail about how we are looking this season and my views,” he sighs. “I feel pretty much the same as the others. Hopefully another cup win will smooth over the cracks, but it’s a young side and next season is where I’m expecting a big improvement.”
Meanwhile at Horizons, there’s no need for improvement – the label is killing it on each and every release. In the last three months they’ve release pure sonic silk from the likes of June Miller, Dabs, Instramental, Data, Atmospherix, Sunchase, Atom and a full album by Naibu. Check them all out for yourself right here.
This week sees the release of Hydro & Halogenix’s Disillusioned/Trieste (exclusive to Drum&BassArena this week!) while the future looks equally busy with cuts from the likes of Amoss, Nickbee and plenty more… “I can’t list any more, as it’s sounding like a shopping list,” he laughs. “You get the picture, it’s really busy – all systems go!”
Congratulations Neil! The Horizons boss has smashed the scoreboard with an incredible score beating The Risky 8-5! That’s going to take some beating…
