Jade – the Brains behind Eatbrain – has converged with Let It Roll for a new, utterly damaging ep featuring the likes of L 33, Agressor Bunx, Machine Code and Mindscape. Plus there’s the fact that the EB virus will take hold at the the festival itself. You can run but you can’t etc etc…
Jade. What’s the news with EB + Let It Roll? Is the label taking part in a big way?
Eatbrain has it’s own stage at Let It Roll in 2016 just as we did last year, and we hope it’ll be just as amazing as it was in 2015! Let It Roll last year was extremely memorable in the label’s life; the stage was awesome and we’ve got plenty of genuine positive feedback from everyone.
Tell us about LIR for people new to it.
Let It Roll has grown to be the biggest drum and bass festival in the whole world; it’s practically a must for the genre’s lovers. It showcases all the subgenres in drum and bass, actively paying attention to the scene to be absolutely up-to-date with the artists and stages.
It won’t be any different this year either, a top quality festival.
When you stand and look back/marvel, it’s an insane lineup on the Eatbrain Goes To Let It Roll EP, how did you choose what went on it?
When Let It Roll asked me to make this EP, I immediately saw the possibility to connect our currently running projects with the stage and the record label.
It didn’t take much time to pick the artists: we’ve asked those who are currently working on their own albums on Eatbrain.
L 33’s LP will be out by the time Let It Roll happens and Machine Code’s work will be out shortly after. Agressor Bunx’s and Mindscape’s productions are also in the oven.
Naturally they’ll all perform on stage at LIR.
We’ve tried putting those kinds of tracks on the EP that best reflect the stage’s energetic atmosphere. These are heavy, dance floor-oriented tracks that will be on the albums as well, but we’ve also tried to pay attention to pick songs that represent the artist’s most-significant vibe, because these albums will hold many surprises.
What I’m trying to say with this is that every album is diverse and exciting, but we’ve chosen the heaviest and most iconic tracks from them to get everyone in the mood for the huge summer parties.
So these tracks on the ‘Eatbrain Goes To Let It Roll’ EP actually don’t showcase neither the artists’ nor Eatbrain’s entire range, rather the tip of them all. The albums will be more complex.
Have to ask on the graphics front, that EB style, the killer designs: can we get your designs on shirts?
We’ve actually started a special shirt project but we had to put it on the backburner, for other reasons.
But we’ve set up a DeviantArt page under ‘Eatbrain’ where all the artworks with and without the typos are available to buy in the best quality as art prints, canvases or photos. Maybe these artworks rather belong on the wall than on T-shirts.
Getting back to the shirt designs, actually we’ve just had a Design Competition, which ended with great success; we’ve received countless awesome and creative designs.
You’ll be able to see the winner T-shirt concept in our webshop very soon.
OK, what’s a tune that inspires YOU that you would share?
Luckily there are a lot of amazing happenings in the neuro-world besides Eatbrain, so I’d like to actually pick a whole album, outside our camp, and not just one track… my friends from Neonlight have worked extremely hard on the LP and those 16 tracks on it are both inspiring and outstanding, should be considered guiding in both creativity and quality.
It’ll soon be out on Blackout. Big up guys!
Any last thoughts here?
Big up for everyone who supports us, see you at Let It Roll!
