Russia’s Hidden Tactics has just dropped the Sendai ep which coincidentally is number 5 in the T3KNOLOGY series on T3K. Got that? We discussed the release in some detail…
Hello Hidden Tactics, I love this ep.
Thanks a lot. I’m very pleased that my music appeals to people.
Tell us where you come from?
Originally from the city of Ekaterinburg in Russia. I once heard stuff from a certain guy. His name was “Heamy” and I loved his work and so decided to get FL Studio and try to make music myself. Of course, first attempts were pretty bad, ha ha.
But Dimitry/Heamy supported me, and so I didn’t stop. He is a friend now and his support is pushing me.
I feel that you pay much attention to the details in your music, to create something that really lives and breathes. Is this the case? Very absorbing.
Yes. I love to spend more time on the details. There are times when I mess around with one hi-hat all day.
My tracks are a bit strange. Maybe also because my goal is not to make money. I just want people to listen to my music and eventually like it.
Thus, I want to transfer some of my mood to the audience.
… and when do you produce?
I’m a very busy person but still, I find time for music and I often write at night. Night-times are more calm.
Can you take us behind ‘The Compound’?
The writing of this track was kind of a turning point for me. One day, I just had it in my head and so I started to work out the groove. The result was ‘The Compound’. I showed the track to Nick from Ruffhouse and he liked it. So I decided to get it released.
About ‘Particles’, can you take us through?
‘Particles’ was written after a long pause of writers block. Before, there was a lot of inspiration which was gone for a while. After the block, I just built the whole track in my head, as it should be.
And then I tried to realize the idea viamy sequencer. It may seem strange, but I think this track is somehow funny. Funny, but at the same time dark. Some kind of black humour expressed through musical notes.
I think you understand me.
How did you and T3K Recordings come to be in contact?
As I said, I like stuff by Brain Crisis. One day, I was just checking his music and releases. And that’s how I found out about T3K Recordings. I wrote Kaiza and he answered pretty fast. Made me happy because a lot of labelowners don’t even answer.
I’m very grateful to Kaiza, because he opened the door for a lot of people… check his site for the list of signed artists. It’s pretty impressive. Some very known names made first steps on this small digi-only label.
What visual art do you like, feel free to name some random things on different media. Any era.
OK, movies! Requiem for a Dream, Zodiac, Enemy by Denis Villeneuve, Se7en, El Maquinista plus many others are my faves.
What artists influenced?
Brain Crisis, Clarity, Skeptical, Ruffhouse, Dub Phizix and others.
What track is in your head right now, any genre?
Heamy ‘Override’.
