Calling all festival lovers!
We’ve got a pair of camping tickets for Creamfields this August Bank Holiday weekend… Want in?
Creamfields: a northern festival institution that caters for every possible electronic taste. Returning to its Daresbury stomping ground between August 23-25 the line-up this year is tonked with beats and treats. Bass-dusted highlights include The Proidgy’s only UK festival appearance, Andy C, Sub Focus, Shy FX, Friction & Friends, Mistajam, Major Look and North Base.
And that’s just the tip of the line-up iceberg; with all flavours of house, techno, trance, electro and heaps more, the Creamfields talent roster acts as a neat celebration of where electronic music is at in 2013. You can grab the full details and loads more Creamfields info on their website.
Read on to find out how you can be there courtesy of Drum&BassArena. But first, a little chat with North Base to see what they’re planning for their appearance in Mistajam’s Speakerbox arena… Seems they’re quite excited.
North Base! Excited for Creamfields?
Are you stupid? Joke! Of course we are! All of us are very excited to be at Creamfields once again! We love it; it brings the whole of the world and the North West together each and every time! We’ve played now two years on the trot. It’s right in our back garden and the atmosphere is second to none. We cannot wait to watch Prodigy live this year and few other interesting acts that weekend. Gonna get our rave on we thinks!
You’re a pretty big crew, and relatively local to Creamfields… Are all of you repping?
Yeah most of us will be there on the day! Ikee B, Sonic and Microcosm will be there in spirit while Silver, Prophecy, Splice and our host MC Longman will be tearing down the Speakbox stage alongside Subfocus, Mistajam, Shy FX and many more. We are well buzzin about it!
How does a North Base festival set differ from a North Base club set?
They don’t differ really. Our sets are about getting the people dancing and having a good time! So we might start off with some house and electro stuff then go into some dubstep, some 140 and then round it off with some dancefloor drum & bass! We try to play what the people want and we always pay attention to big crowds and small ones, to see if they like what we are playing at that moment in time. If it’s not going down too well we up the ante and get them moving again! It can be a hard job sometimes but we love our work. It makes us work even harder and harder!
Any tips for DJing at a festival? Keep things moving, interact with the crowd and hype them up. It’s all about the people and not us.
Keeping on a tip vibe, what three things should everyone pack for a festival?
1. Good pair of shoes/wellies
We hope we don’t need these but if you do you need to be ready to dash them away after as they’ll be no good. Trench Foot Massive!
2. Money
You don’t want to be skint at a festival… And stop asking us for free drinks!
3. Pack a smile
No one wants to see moody people at a festival!
How’s your summer going anyway?
Our summer is going really well right now! Hideout Festival in Croatia was amazing and some of the other lads were over to Ultra Festival in Croatia. We also filmed our video for Insomniac which is coming out soon on Wheel & Deal records in the summer. Not only that, but working in the studio while there is a heatwave outside on our new album is driving us insane but we get time to go to the park anyways.
Anything else you want to shout about?
Yeah if you would like to know more about North Base please go to our Facebook page where we have free downloads, news, gigs and loads of updates on our releases. Also just to let you know we are currently working on our first album! No release date as of yet but will feature some great artists in the world of music so keep your ears to the ground! Remember where you heard it first. We would love to give a massive shout out to our fans who have made our two years in this North Base thing amazing so far! Without you we would not exist so thanks for listening!
