What are you doing this Sunday?
Serious question. And unless the answer is something along the lines of ‘I’m in the studio with Andy C’ or ‘I’m taking a coach of OAPs to the zoo’ you have no excuse but to come down to our FREE Summer Selection 2012 launch BBQ! Quick; there’s still time to grab a ticket here.
Okay… There are other reasons for not attending. Stuff like work, living miles away from London or a million other commitments you may have already made. But if you can, you really need to get yourselves down to this one. It kicks off at 2pm and rolls right through until 11pm. The line-up and location will be revealed to ticket holders tomorrow and trust us…. both the location and the line-up are MASSIVE! Sunday’s do not usually come with such ridiculously impressive A-list D&B talent.
The very same can be said for our Summer Selection 2012 release. 40 tracks, 10 exclusives, 2 CDs, it’s brimming with a bass-bitten, bliss-ridden blend of perfect sun-kissed sonics. Whether the summer remains the gloomy, unpredictable beast it has been, or it starts to fix up and look sharp, Summer Selection 2012 will act as the perfect soundtrack to everything you do this season.

See those exclusives? You will not find those 10 tracks anywhere else! We thought we’d have a word with Total Science and ask about their special contribution, the beautiful melodic roller Melody Snow.
“It came about because of the machine it was made on, the Virus Snow!” explains Paul Smith, one half of the duo. “We wanted to do a track with that old Good Looking feel; a wicked arpeggio and that really nice, cool feeling to it with a classic vocal. But with a modern twist to it. To me that says summer! It’s had some great reactions; I still remember the first time we played it. It’s a great way to start the set.”
You can hear it yourself when the album is released on Sunday July 15 (digi) and Monday July 16 (CD). In the meantime we get some words on summertime self discipline from Smith.
“Are we summer people? What summer? Haha,” he laughs. “I like the sun but being as we spend all our days in a dark studio it doesn’t make many odds or sods does it? Winter is good for music making, summer you get super envious of people who are out and about in the good weather. Making music or sitting on a beach in the sun? It’s a tough choice! But we do it because that’s what we do for a living. You’ve got to be disciplined about these things! We get up early in the morning so we get a whole day out of it. If I really want to get out and ejoy the sun then I’ll get up at 6, work for a few hours then go out and have some fun! We used to be night owls but it messes you up! I get back from a gig at 5am but I’m still up at 9am anyway, you can’t keep leaving that sleep. That’s not to say we don’t have those late nights but you’ve got to be a bit sensible…”
Unless it’s a Sunday BBQ Summer Selection album launch. Then we implore you not to be sensible. It’s not too late, there are a handful of free tickets left: book Monday off work and join us. The summer starts here…. (promise!)
