The results are finally in for the official Formation Records Remix Competition. Before we run down the winners I wanted to say a massive thank you to all those that entered and to DJ SS for judging the competition and providing some valuable feedback.
In reverse order, this is DJ SS’ top 8 tracks (with some handy feedback) from the competition:
8) Twisted Individual – Pony Pleasure (Slave Drivers Remix)
“Certainly a great job although the mixdown needs improvements and some extra width in the sound requires attention. The main riff also needs to be louder in my opinion.”
7) John B – Pressure (Laowai & Gweilo Remix)
“Big remix! Work on some tweaks to get the mixdown tight as it’s a bit dry – possibly some reverb on certain sounds would help. This could have easily been my number 2 with some more work.”
6) Mental Power – Dream Sequence (Fire Syne Dub Remix)
“This could have made top 3 but the mix really needs more work. The groove is rolling and with the right production this could actually be big!”
5) MA3 – Those DJ’s (Spexion Remix)
“Tight production and a good remix. The riff needs to change up, maybe make it a bit more of a roller. I need to speak to Spexion about this”
4) Nero – Requiem (Crisis & Ikon B Remix)
“Wicked! Great work and such a nice surprise to hear one of the lesser known tunes.”
3) Mental Power – Gold (Mooney & Konspiracy Remix)
“Great jungle vibes, nice and simple – that’s what it was all about.”
2) Generation Dub – Body Snatchers (Mike Mozey Remix)
“Rolling!!! A great switch up from the original”
And the winner of the Formation Records Remix Competition 2016 is….
1) Influx UK – It’s Love (Oder Remix)
“I’m really feeling this. It’s certainly well produced and it’s been kept clean and simple with tight production. A possible release is on the cards with a few tweaks.”
So that’s it, another competition over! Big up to everyone and keep you’re eyes peeling for the next installment.
