2014 kicks off with another producers competition on the Drum&BassArena forum revisiting the popular format of remixing a classic. Following on from previous remix competitions we are now picking up the time period of ’99 to ’03. An era where Shy FX blew up into the UK mainstream with the likes of Shake Ur Body and Feelin U, Shimon & Andy C’s Body Rock was rewound more times than a backwards waltzer and labels such as Back 2 Basics were revisiting their self-proclaimed classics.
The remix competition starts 3rd February and will run till 1st March which gives one month to complete your track. To enter, sign up to the forum and post in this thread where the full competition rules can also be found.
All budding producers now how the opportunity to get their tunes heard not only by the Drum & Bass Arena community but none other than three heavyweight judges including:
Nicky Blackmarket
Certainly a household name and one of the hardest working dj’s on the circuit. Previously the owner of record label Kartoons and a producer himself, this man knows a big tune when he hears it.
Jaydan
One of the big producers of 2013, Jaydan has seen his popularity rise from strength to strength with releases on Playaz and his own label Smokin’ Riddims. His forthcoming release on Dance Concepts ‘Generation Hyper’ project entitled ‘One of a Kind’ is highly anticipated.
DJ Stretch
One of jungle’s unsung heroes, Stretch released many tunes in the 90’s on labels such as Riddim Track Records, A-Ko Recordings and Reinforced Records. He is currently hard at work in the studio alongside presenting his own show on Radio Frontline.
See you on the forum. And good luck!
