Matrix
Matrix (a.k.a. west Londoner, Jamie Quinn) first broke through with his slick techno infused classic, ‘Sleepwalk’ album on Virus Records. Ever since then he has held a permanent spot in the upper echelons of Drum & Bass with his productions finding homes on such distinguished labels as Hospital Records, Viper, Ram, Metalheadz and Matrix’s very own Metro Records. Jamie has steadily built a remix credit list to be envious of, including the likes of Justin Timberlake, Moby, Sasha, Timbaland, Annie Lennox, and Robbie Williams.
When Matrix and Futurebound combined their powers to unleash the seminal ‘Universal Truth’ long player, the skilful fusion of epic melodic soundscapes with heavyweight dancefloor production defined a whole new era. Standout tracks such as the anthemic ‘Skyscraper’ and the indisputably massive ‘American Beauty’ were frequently found on the playlists of BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac, Pete Tong and Zane Lowe and provided inspiration for a new generation of acts such as Shock One, Camo & Krooked and Brookes Brothers to follow suit.
Not just content within the confines of Drum & Bass, Matrix has also spread his wings into the house scene, scoring chart success under the ‘Goldtrix’ pseudonym with the top 5 hit, ‘Trippin’ and more recently with his releases on Roger Sanchez’s Stealth Records, receiving heavy DJ support from the likes of Axwell, Tiesto, and Armin Van Buuren.
2011 saw Matrix & Futurebound launch their ‘Worldwide’ mix compilation series which was the perfect snapshot of the electronic bass music landscape in 2011, keeping a sharp focus on the freshest drum & bass around whilst also drawing on dubstep and electro to capture the sound of a Matrix & Futurebound live set in all of its glory.
Now in 2012, Matrix & Futurebound have opened a new chapter as they work towards the release of their second artist album. The first single, ‘All I Know’ which features vocalist Luke Bingham was the first peak at the forthcoming project. Having cracked the official UK Top 40 charts at #26 and reigning supreme on BBC Radio 1 “B” and 1Xtra “A” playlist, the single. Look out for the next Matrix & Futurebound single, ‘Magnetic Eyes’, out winter 2012.
